Youth Global Citizens Summit 2020

The 2020 Youth Global Citizens Summit (YGCS) was hosted by Changing Destinations: Journey To Excellence, Inc. in collaboration with its partners. The event brought together youth and adults from diverse racial, cultural, geographic, and economic backgrounds who are committed to making a positive difference in their communities. Originally designed to be an in-person event, YGCS was held virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Youth participated in three days of interactive activities, panel discussions, and youth presentations on solutions to real-world problems. The theme for the YGCS is Global Citizenship: Passport to Success.

The Summit empowered youth through knowledge building, dialogue, and collaboration. Participants gained a clear perspective on career decisions, the role of technology in a changing world, and the importance of developing the necessary skills and knowledge to become global citizens. Additionally, youth engaged in a fun interactive game to learn about the United Nations 17 Sustainable Development Goals and learn how to take an active role in achieving the global goals. The Panel Discussion was the highlight of the Summit pairing youth with community leaders to share their perspectives on Leadership Development, Social Emotional Learning, Community Service, and Global Citizenship.
