Are you a young global citizen between the ages of 13 and 18? If so, we want to see the impact you are having on your community! Submit an original, 60-second video describing a youth-led initiative, activity or event that will contribute to the achievement of the 2030 UN Sustainable Development Goal and Global Citizenship.

Who Can Enter?

 

  • You must be 13 to 18 years old!

  • Register and attend at least one day/activity at the Youth Summit

  • You can be from anywhere in the world, but the video must be in English.

  • You may work individually or as a group. Only one group leader needs to register for the challenge.

  • Parents and adults can be advisors but shall not have any hands-on involvement.

  • All participants must have verified contact information.

  • Immediate family members of the organizers are ineligible to enter!

How to Enter

  • Create a 1 minute or less video that expresses your interest in one of the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs/Global Goals),

  • Describe how as a Global Citizen you plan to focus on the goal to make a difference in your community or somewhere else in the world.

  • Videos will be judged based on the criteria outlined in the Judging Rubric. The video must be appropriate for viewers who are 10 years and older. Individuals or groups may submit one video per SDG Category. Upload your video to the Changing Destinations website by the deadline of July 31, 2021 at 11:59 PM (EST).

The video opening title must read:

(Enter a title for your solution)

 

Video Closing Title

The video closing title must be at least 5 seconds long with the following content: “Submitted to the 2021 Changing Destinations Youth Global Citizens Summit: $500 Challenge Your World Challenge.” Make sure to include credits at the end of the video.

About the Judging

Judges will review all video submissions and select the top three winning videos, based on the criteria listed in the Judging Rubric.

 

The first-place finalists will receive $500.

The second-place finalist will receive $250.

The third-place finalist will receive $100.

 

Contingent upon a clear plan for implementing their idea that they will either articulate in their winning video or explain in more detail in a follow-up call with the judges. Winners will be announced at the Awards Ceremony on August 14, 2021, and will receive instructions on receiving their cash prize by August 21, 2021. 

 

Winners will also be featured on the Changing Destinations website and agree to participate in future planned events with Changing Destinations including, but not limited to events to promote the United Nations SDGs and future Youth Summits.

 

To receive the $500 award, winner will be required to sign an agreement that they intend to commit to the implementation of their project. They will present the project and their results at the 2022 Changing Destinations Youth Global Citizens Summit.

All winners will be introduced to the Global Citizens Academy and strongly encouraged to join with other youth from around the world to become agents of change for causes that interest them. All winners will also have an opportunity to be matched with a mentor if they desire.
