Harvard Think Tank on Global Education

Executive Director, Sasha E. Butler has been accepted into Harvard University Graduate School of Education - Professional Education Think Tank on Global Education: Empowering Global certification program. Her acceptance was highly competitive and demonstrates her role as a leader in global citizenship education in community-based educational settings.

The certification program focuses primarily on equipping teachers and administrators to foster global competence in their school(s) by co-constructing curriculum, developing teachers, and devising a strategy for systemic change. Ms Butler's ability to develop strong partnerships with school districts and connect them to their communities was highlighted during the program and was a key factor in her acceptance.

Ms Butler was able to introduce "Global Citizenship Matters," a six-week online course she designed in her Doctoral program at Walden University. The course received positive feedback and interest from many of the educators enrolled in the certification program. However, Ms. Butler's commitment to social change lead to the course being donated to Collins American International Academy, a primary and secondary school in Owerri, Imo State Nigeria. She has also offered to teach the course for free to all teacher in the region. The goal is to equip the teachers so they can equip their students and prepare them to become Global Citizens!
