YELD Global Citizens Academy

YELD Academy launched an awesome online discussion forum on Thursday, March 22nd. Youth from New York, Maryland and Virginia logged in via video conferencing and telephone to discuss issues facing today's youth. The representation of youth from middle, high school and college made for an interactive and engaging session. Erika White, a YELD facilitator served as the host for the 30 minute session. Youth voiced their concerns and shared some great ideas for addressing challenges in these key areas:

(1) Social and Emotional learning,

(2) Communications

(3) Relationships

(4) Cultural Competency

(5) Bullying and Fighting

The online forum was the first in a series YELD has planned. The outcome of our dialogue with youth (ages 13 - 24) will shape the future of YELD activities and programming for the Youth Academy in the upcoming months.

If you know youth who have leadership in their DNA, then the YELD online forum is a perfect opportunity for them.
