Ugandan and South African Guests Visit Wilde Lake Middle School

Dr. Reginald and Dr. Deborah Freeman of A Cross the Nations International Ministries played an instrumental role working with Changing Destinations and the HCPSS Black Student Achievement Program to bring visitors from Uganda and South African for cultural awareness day at Wilde Lake Middle School in Columbia, Maryland.

Students were fully engaged in learning more about countries on the continent of Africa. Several classes and clubs prepared presentations and interactive activities for the day. Samuel Kisakye, Director of Kawotto Saviours' Primary School and Managing Director of Ugandan Broadcasting Corporation, commented, " I am overwhelmed by the technology, transportation, and food service available to students. " He summed it up by reminding student that they are "Blessed!" Malinda "Promise" Kisakye shared her experience moving from South Africa to Uganda, and the cultural barriers she had to overcome. She remarked, "African countries are very diverse."

Teachers comment on the genuine excitement and interest students displayed, their desire to become participate in a pen pal program.
