The goal of the educational enrichment component is to increase the opportunity for students to enter and complete college. The activities aim to help students develop a career plan that guides their transition from school to work. We connect students and families to existing educational and career resources, through direct outreach programs in households and schools.
College Readiness Workshops
Workshops and webinars provide students in-depth information about colleges and universities. They cover various requirements needed at the high school level to prepare to meet college entrance requirements. Students meet college students, faculty, and administrators who provide firsthand insight into college life. The workshop series gives students tools to be successful once they get to college.
Students will be introduced to local celebrities (such as media personalities) and professionals in various fields of business for the purpose of learning about careers available for them to pursue. Students will have the opportunity to attend “Meet and Greet” social events to socialize with professionals who are successful in their area of interest. These exposures will strengthen students’ motivation and desires to reach for greater opportunities they may have originally believed out of their reach. The mentoring component provides real-world experiences that provide necessary motivation for success in school, the workplace, and in life. Students will be paired with professionals, college students, and peer leaders to develop social, cultural, and educational skills.
